Story...

Age: 31
Country/Hangouts: England, Kent, Tunbridge Wells, West Malling.
Main Skills: Guitarist, singer, songwriter, producer, tea drinker extraordinaire.

Frontman and creative brain behind The Violet Jive, and offshoots Latin/Afro-Cuban & Swing group The Cuban Violets and duo Dos Violetas. He also imparts his ever expanding knowledge of the guitar onto anyone wishing to learn.

Steve picked up the guitar around age 10, forming bands with a school mate drummer, and by around age 12 they were gigging, putting on shows in local halls and being firmly bitten by the music making bug. Their band at the time 'Freak Experience' were lucky enough to spend a week on a music course with Herbie Flowers (known for his famous bass line on Lou Reed's 'Walk on the Wildside') and a host of industry tutors which led to Herbie's son Nick inviting them up to London to record their first demo in his studio. An exciting early taste of recording and arranging songs to a professional level.

During his teens it was mostly heavy rock and blues orientated styles mixed with a growing hunger for hip-hop and other more experimental sounds. On to making drum 'n' bass and breakbeats in his early 20's, with a nod of approval and encouragement from legendary d'n'b producer LtJ Bukem for several tracks sent in to the famous Good Looking Records label.

But the thirst for playing live, writing songs and now singing became too strong, and the guitar flames were reignited in the form of flamenco, latin and jazz styles, leading him out the other side as a complete wreck of a boy with a hard to please taste in all things musically good. A hunger rarely satisfied, but a pleasure pursued and quenched every once in a while!
