The Violet Jive was formed circa 2006 by Singer/Guitarist & 'Musical Mixologist' Steve Spall, who's taste for the exotic and a juxta positioning of styles and flavours defines the uniquely colourful, eclectic sound of the band.

'Fresh yet Retro' sets of carefully selected tunes blending Swing, Latin, Rock 'n' Roll, Soul, Exotica, Hip-Hop, Rockabilly, Salsa, Funk, Movie Themes & Beyond mean they're a welcome and refreshing alternative for the live music scene. A busy gigging schedule includes Festivals, Bars, Weddings, Parties & Corporate events. 

 

The main line up of a Trio featuring Guitar/Vocals, Double Bass/Vocals & Drums is often expanded to include Sax, Trumpet & Latin Percussion or mellowed down to a Duo for more chilled happenings such as cocktails/canapes.

Highlights include Supporting Grammy winning, multi platinum Jazz/Soul voice Gregory Porter, playing 2,128m above sea level at Mount Pilatus in Switzerland and yearly spots at their favourite Festival; the Rye International Jazz & Blues Festival.
